From Brett Heneke, Outdoor and Experiential Education Teacher, Stratford Hall, Vancouver: “ The Grade 8s and 9s at Stratford Hall have been having a wonderful time learning how to scuba dive. The course has been exciting from the first breath underwater to the anticipation of going into the ocean. It is so important to provide the young citizens of any country the opportunities to healthy, life long pursuits. These activities help them to learn about themselves, other and the environment around them. You have done an excellent job in the pool sessions helping us to understand the process of scuba diving and the important skills needed to complete this activity. You have shown patience when working with the students, which I know can be difficult at times. Your high level of organization helps the course to run smoothly. Overall you have made this an easy course to put together. I would like to extend a thank you from me and all the students. Thanks for allowing the course to be possible”.
From Woodstreet School, Whitehorse, Yukon 2002: “I, Ryan would like to thank you on behalf of Mr O’Connor and the Experiential Science 11 crew for your time and patience. I really enjoyed the course as well as my fellow classmates. The best part of the whole course was the first and last dive we did in the ocean. I thought the first dive in the ocean was cool but a hard experience for me, seeing that my flipper came off half way down, while my ears were pounding. The last dive was awesome because I felt like a real diver seeing all the fish and organisms just like on T.V. Anyway thanks a bunch and I hope the next set of students will enjoy this course as much as I have. We will always remember you by the saying………SCUBA!!!!!!!. Thanks”.
From Megumi Inoue, SFU Student, Burnaby: “ Hi Martyn, thank you for the great lessons and your patience. I teach swimming and snowboarding sometimes but I cannot be as patient as you are. Now I believe it’s very important after receiving lessons from you. I learned more than just scuba diving from you. Thank you for your time”.
From Jonathon Bowers, Divemaster and SFU Student, Burnaby: “The difference between your approach, Martyn, and other instructors, is that you teach people to dive”.
From Woodstreet School, Whitehorse, Yukon 2003: Dear Martyn Thank you for opening many more doors to our world of science and adventure. You've taught us how to scuba and more. This trip wouldn't have been complete without you. Thank you very much from all the Experiential Science students. SCUBA!! |
